Maddie Happenings

A lot has been going on in the magical world of Maddie, and I have been slow to update about them (my bad)!

Every Friday, Maddie's teacher picks a "star student". The star student is picked based off of behavior, manners, etc - essentially the student that exemplifies the qualities of a star student the week prior. Since the beginning of school, Maddie has talked about being star student. She had planned out in her head every detail of the star student poster that she would have to make. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed she was EVERY Friday that she came home without the prestigious title of star student.

And then, 2 weeks ago, Maddie came home with Mr. Bear signifying her entrance into the star student club. She couldn't have been happier. Mr. Bear got to spend the weekend with us . . . accompanying us to a celebratory dinner of sushi, sleeping with her, and doing all of the other insignificant things we do on the weekends. Then she had to do a short write up of everything she did over the weekend with Mr. Bear. And then, her beloved poster was born. All that she had dreamed of came to life. At the end of the weekend, Maddie declared, "This star student stuff sure is hard work!" It was cute. She was cute. Love that kid!

Maddie with her friend, Maddie (not a typo!)

They also recently had the 100th day of school celebration. I don't ever remember celebrating this milestone, but celebrate they did! All of the kids dressed up as if they were 100 years old. Now, dress up has never really been my thing. Maddie is extremely opinionated. Put these two qualities together and it's nearly a recipe for disaster! Maddie insisted on wearing this particular dress . . . a dress that my grandmother made for my sister and my mom smocked the collar eons ago. In Maddie's mind, it probably WAS 100 years old. We added some baby powder to her hair to make it gray, but she's too blonde for it to work. She was cute anyways, with or without the gray hair!
