How Scotch saved my marriage

Scotch tape that is.

I've mentioned our home improvements before. Maybe once. Okay, twice. Or possibly even three times, but come on, this has totally consumed our lives for the last several months! :)

Anyhoo . . . we're pretty much finished. Except, we had plan to "frame in" our bathroom mirror. The massive mirror that runs wall to wall. So we go and buy the wood. Stain it to match our furniture. While Peter was traveling for work I finished up the final staining and added some polyurethane and it's ready for installation. We hold it up and it's just perfect.

Except . . . how in the world are we going to attach the molding to our mirror?

Liquid Nails? Nope, apparently we didn't notice the label that clearly states . . . not for use on mirrors.

Epoxy? Not that either

Many other adhesives that I don't even remember? Nope, not those either.

So, we call up a glass and mirror company and ask for their recommendation. And you know what they said? . . . wait for it . . . DOUBLE SIDED TAPE!

Not even kidding.

And it worked. Beautifully. So, after many adhesive attempts, which led to some serious bickering within the household, we found our solution. And it looked beautiful.

"looked" being the operative word here. As in past tense.

So today, while sealing the edges with a recommended silicone, it now looks crappy. The clear silicone is no longer clear, but cloudy.

And this, my friends, is why we should hire professionals. Because we have officially spent more on our "do it ourselves" project than if we had just paid somebody to do it for us.
